Turning talk into action

Wrappup was founded by Rami Salman and co-founded by Ayush Chordia and Rishav Jalan. The company began by building working prototype in under 24 hours, winning Angelhack Dubai 2015.

Through 4 years at Bain & Company, Rami experienced the power of productive meetings with clients across industries. He designed the app based on accumulated best practice and extensive research on meeting productivity. Ayush built the multi-platform cloud-based app and unleashed the power of speech and voice-print recognition technology to enhance the experience. Rishav built the Android app to be intuitive, quick, and scalable. Both have developed at breakneck speed, the engine for the tech growth.

In September 2016, Wrappup secured $800,000 in funding led by BECO Capital along with Arzan VC and other investors.

Wrappup was acquired by Voicea (USA) in 2018, which was acquired by Cisco the following year.

Jamalon is the largest online bookstore in Middle East

Jamalon.com is a bilingual (English and Arabic) online marketplace catering for print books, ebooks, audio books, book reviews, and online communities for readers. Now the company offers more than 10 million of Arabic and English titles with home delivery and localized payment methods.

As a teenager fascinated with computer programming, Ala AlSallal volunteered for Ruwwad, an Amman-headquartered non-profit community development organization, teaching other young people basic computer literacy. With the support of Ruwwad’s founder Fadi Ghandour, who became his mentor, Ala launched Jamalon – which means ‘top of the pyramid’ – in October 2010.

Jamalon has forged strong partnerships with over 3,000 Arabic and 27,000 English-language publishers. The company enables all publishers in Middle East to offer their books to customers worldwide through its platform. And on the other side, Jamalon enables publishers from outside Middle Eastern to target Middle East customers.

One of Jamalon’s ventures is Jamalon Print on Demand. The service aims to fill major gaps in the region’s publishing industry, opening doors to those authors and publishers to whom traditional offset print are not a viable option due to the budget, timeframes and distribution networks restraints.
